MTA Supports Recovery, Stability, and Independence

Aastha Community Services

The path to independent living often involves careful planning and support for NDIS participants.
There are times when long-term housing arrangements, home modifications, or disability supports take
longer than expected to be ready.

During this transitional period, having a safe and accessible place to stay becomes crucial. This is where Medium Term Accommodation (MTA) comes in. MTA plays an essential role in bridging the gap between hospital discharge or other temporary living arrangements and moving into a long-term home. MTA provides safe and suitable accommodation during this recovery or transition period. Medium Term Accommodation is part of the NDIS home and living supports, which also include Supported Independent Living (SIL), Individualised Living Options (ILO), Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA), home modifications, and personal care supports. It gives participants a secure place to stay, usually for up to 90 days, while they wait for their long-term housing arrangements or disability supports to be completed. For many people with disabilities, transitioning from hospital or residential facilities, MTA plays an important role in recovery.

It also provides stability, which allows participants to access ongoing therapy, maintain routines, and stay connected to their community while their long-term homes are being prepared. Above all, MTA promotes independence. During their stay, participants can practice daily living skills, prepare for their next move, and transition smoothly into their permanent homes. To get the most out of MTA, it is important for participants and their support coordinators to plan carefully.

Clear evidence of the confirmed long-term housing arrangement such as a tenancy offer, an approved home modification schedule, or a letter from a service provider will support the request for funding.

At Aastha Community Services, our goal is to deliver compassionate and reliable disability services that enable individuals to live with confidence and dignity. For NDIS participants waiting for their long-term home to be ready, we ensure that the journey continues safely and with dignity through our MTA support and services.

As a registered NDIS service provider, we provide accommodation that aligns with NDIS standards, offering accessible housing, caring staff, and seamless coordination with other essential disability services. Reach out to us today to know more!
